Posting Rules & Guidelines

Posting Rules & Guidelines

To aid in maintaining a happy community, we have assembled the following set of helpful rules. If you have anything you feel we have missed or should add, please email any administrator or moderator!

Forum & Site Rules

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violate of any law.

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board.

Creating New Topics vs. Posting Replies

Before creating a new topic, scroll through the topic list to see if someone else has already posted about the same topic. If so, post a reply to that topic instead of creating another topic on the same subject.

If you think it takes too long to scroll through the topic list before creating a new topic, consider that it wouldn't take nearly as long to skim the list if there were fewer new topics to scroll through each time you visit!

Subject Lines

Give your topics a meaningful Subject line that tells what your message is about. A subject such as "Great Mango Lotion Bar Recipe" is meaningful. Subject lines such as "Wow", "I think...", "Please read!!", and so on do not give readers any indication of the content of your post. Many readers will skip over your topic if they can't tell what it's about by looking at the Subject line.

Don't post off-topic messages on the soap boards; post them on the "Off Topic" Forum on the Community Board instead. Messages not relating to a board's topic will be removed.

Delayed Posts

The Debbie May.com Forums are fully moderated by a combination of administrators and moderators. Your post may have a delay from public viewing. We do to ensure board rules are being followed.

Posts that violate board rules will be edited by board moderators for content. Poster will not be notified of edit. In some cases, entire post may not be approved. Due to number of posts being moderated, you will not be contacted regarding changes to your post. If you have a question about changes to your post, you are asked to contact a moderator or administrator.

Flaming & Personal Attacks

Follow the Golden Rule. When posting, treat others as you'd like to be treated -- don't be insulting and don't harass others. Everyone who posts on this board is a real person, just like you.

You can disagree without flaming. You can set forth a different point of view without attacking someone else personally. Don't let mass opinion sway you or dissuade you from posting your own opinions.

If someone respectfully disagrees with you, that does not automatically mean that they are flaming you.

Don't immediately take offense when someone offers a different point of view. If you have the misfortune of being flamed, don't respond by flaming back. Report them to an administrator or moderator.

Ignore trolls and they go away.

Members who are persistent in trying to turn a forum into a war zone will be denied access. Remember that posting here is a privilege, not a right.

Posting Attachments

Members are prohibited from posting attachments, video files, word documents, spreadsheets and power point presentations.

Members may post jpg and gif files in their personal membership profile and the public image gallery.

Common Courtesy

Keep your language clean. Messages containing obscene, vulgar, offensive, or abusive language will be removed without notice, and offenders will lose their posting privileges.

Don't post in ALL CAPS. Posting in all caps makes your message harder to read (thereby causing some people to skip it entirely), and some people consider it akin to shouting. This goes for Subject lines, too.

Don't post copyrighted material without permission of the copyright holder. Paraphrasing is OK so long as you do not infringe on the copyrights held by others.

Advertising Policy

These forums are hosted and financially sponsored by WholesaleSuppliesPlus.com, DebbieMay.com and Crafters-Choice.com

In respect to the sponsoring companies, under no circumstances can you advertise a business that directly or indirectly competes with the sponsors. Any posts that violate this will be deleted immediately and your membership will be banned.

You may link your own website as long as it does not sell supplies to make crafts and has a main focus of selling personal care, candle or spa finished products. You may not approach members about "get rich quick" business opportunities. Any posts that violate this will be deleted immediately and your membership will be banned.

If members experience solicitation of any kind, please report it immediately.

Special Note

The purpose of this board is to assist crafters in making product and helping businesses growing their business. Debbie May.com has invested considerable money in developing this site. They have chosen knowledgeable administrators/moderators to assist with the day to day operations of this site.

In saying this, it must be noted that the message board and forums will not be consistently attended by the management of Debbie May.com.

If you have a problem with any vendor, this board is not an appropriate place to communicate your concern. You must call the vendor directly.

Emails & Personal Messages

All new forum members are placed on a "member" status until they have successfully reached 50-100 appropriate posts. At that time they are placed on "unmoderated member" status. Only unmoderated members are able to email and private message other unmoderated members. This policy is in place to ensure our members do not receive unsolicited spam.
