I've never colored my HP soaps, but got a couple of oxides to try a bit of color. So.. how exactly do I use them? Do I mix with glycerine than add to the soap? If so, how much do i use? Or do I just add it to the oils? I'm afraid the powder will clump up..
thanks!

I mix mine with glycerin and stir it til it's smooth then add it usually after the soap has reached a lite trace. That way I can divide it into cups and use several different colors if that it what I am doing. Or you can use the smaller amounts for swirls. Once you have mixed it with the glycerin it's pretty much like what you have it you buy a liquid color.

I add it after the cook.
once the batch is cooked, I turn it off, add scent, stir that in well, then color depending on how colorful you want it, oxides you don't need very much
maybe 1/2 tsp mix with 1 oz of glycerine, stir well, then drizzle down the middle, use a chop stick and just randomly swirl in.

Well, I definately didn't use enough. LOL I was scared so I only used a smidge of color in about pffftt.. a bigger smidge of glycerine. lol Took out some of the soap and added the color and tried to in the pot swirl. VERY faint swirly colors, but I don't think it would have been too bad if I had used more. LOL Lemme go see if I can find a pic of it.... Oh well... another learning experience! :)

I wasn't paying attention, I was telling you how I do it in CP. For HP which I don't do very often, I add it at the end by taking a small amount out and adding the color, then swirling it back through. Don't be afraid of the color use plenty to get the color you want but, that said it doesn't take much powder color and it goes a long way.....especially if you spill it and are trying to clean it up :(

It takes a minute to get the hang of it. Once you get it down you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed. Can't wait to see pics

I remember speaking with Grumpy Girl (can't remember her real name) she said don't be afraid of color, she uses a LOT in her soaps but they look great. They might color the bubbles but I've never had any to color me..... or the tub to the point that it wouldn't wipe off.
